Who is eligible to participate?

Participation is open to privately held startups at all stages of maturity working with space technology or space-derived data who have a clearly defined and innovative space mission. We welcome applications from startups around the globe.

There is no equity or financial obligation to participate. The accelerator is open to any startup company that is:

  • A privately held company
  • U.S.-based, or based in a country that is not restricted by US government or Amazon regulations
  • Able to commit 10-15 hours per week throughout the four-week accelerator
  • Able to participate in English language programming and join video conference events, primarily held during U.S. pacific time business hours

How do I apply?

When and how will participants be notified of selection?

Selected startups will be notified directly in late March 2023, at which time they will be invited to join an onboarding event (Week Zero) in April. During the onboarding event, startups will receive an introduction and overview of AWS, as well as a business and technical needs assessment driven by AWS in collaboration with TechConnect to prepare them for the four-week accelerator curriculum in May.

How will applications to the AWS Space Accelerator be judged?

AWS and TechConnect experts will judge applications on several factors, including, but not limited to the innovation, the overall value the solution will bring to the industry, the creative application of AWS to solve problems, the team’s ability to deliver on an identified opportunity, and the startup’s fit with this program’s offerings.

Is there a cost to apply for AWS Space Accelerator or to join the AWS Space Accelerator cohort?

No, the AWS Space Accelerator is a complimentary offering. Accepting the terms of the Accelerator engagement is the only criteria for participation.

Does AWS take any equity stake in AWS Space Accelerator cohort members?

AWS does not take any equity from AWS Space Accelerator cohort participants.

When and where will the AWS Space Accelerator take place?

Cohort members will attend an in-person Week Zero in April (New York), virtual programming in May, and an in-person Demo Day in July (San Francisco).

What if my company would like to participate, but the May timeframe doesn’t work?

AWS still welcomes startups to apply. If the May timeframe doesn’t work with your company’s schedule, please note on your application your preference to have an AWS technical or business specialist to contact you in the interim.
